Cobra Introduces Swept Speedster Exhaust System for H-D Rockers:
01/14/2009
Yorba Linda, CA --Cobra Engineering announced the release of its new Swept Speedster exhaust system for Harley-Davidson Softail and Rocker models. The Swept systems features full-length 2.5-inch heat shields finished off with slash cut ends. Expected to be in dealerships in February, the Swept Speedsters incorporate the Power Port crossover chamber, which increases horsepower while lowering the sound levels over a traditional shotgun system.
"The Rocker is such a great bike that it demanded a great exhaust system,"said Tim McCool, Cobra Engineering President. "The bike looks custom right from the factory. Our new Swept Speedsters give it an even edgier appearance, while they also offer improved performance with significant torque and horsepower gains."
The Swept Speedsters are an all-new design from Cobra. With a graceful radius that begins behind the rear cylinder and then continues to the rear axle area where the tips end, the pipes provide the correct proportional look to the bike. The removable baffles work to keep the sound levels within socially responsible levels. The ends of the pipes feature a radial slash design, almost a curling wave of metal.
But it's the PowerPort that makes this exhaust system more than a cosmetic or acoustic upgrade. The PowerPort connects the front and rear headpipes to promote superior exhaust scavenging. The result is improved torque and overall power (much like you would expect to achieve from a performance 2-into-1 system) from the time-honored 2-into-2 design.
Because of the swept design, the Speedsters require the removal of the right-side passenger foot peg. In most cases this will be a non-issues because the Rocker is styled to be a solo machine. But in case a Rocker rider wants or needs that foot peg, or Softail riders who need it, Cobra is offering an optional foot peg relocation bracket that curves up from under the pipes to locate the peg in the proper position.
In addition to the Swept Speedsters, Cobra is offering several traditional style and performance options for the Rocker including Speedster Slashdowns and Dragster staggered exhausts.
